Yesterday, I was at another regular School Disco that I do for this particular Private School out at the western shores of Moreton Bay.
We started at 2pm, and finished at 6pm. This particular School Disco goes for a little bit longer due to the number of students. The Prep’s & Grade 1s arrived at 2pm and danced for an 1hour, and then at 3:30pm the Grade 2’s and 3’s came in for a dance followed by Grades 4, 5 and 6 at 4:45pm.
The great thing about breaking it up like this is that you can do more hands on games with the younger groups, and they aren’t as full on when you combine the school into one big dance. Don’t get me wrong – it is still OK to have it all in one group – but the games and dances that we do at School Disco’s aren’t as engaging for all the students and sometimes they loose interest.
Overall though it was a great night with LOTS of fun. We did all the fun dances that the kids loved – Macarena, Chicken Dance, Hokey Pokey (for the preppies), Gangnam Style – and more.
I even did some games where we picked out a few guests and got them up to participate in a few surprise games. They loved it! I’m looking forward to coming out to the next year school disco!
